ahl2_skylounge
ahl2_elhouse_b4

I'm speaking as an europpean player, there is actually a few maps that aren't sugested in any servers (even in padded cell),and I really wich the admins could update their map database

as far as I know those maps are not suggested in any servers at all
-amuse_beta
-bankjob
-dawg
-toaster_beta

some other maps are crashing,or the server uses a different one
-skylounge crashes,it has been updated i nthe meantime
-metro can't be joined in some servers
-district33 crashes purely and simply

overall,I saw lots of people saying that almost nobody plays the mod,but maybe if we simply ask admins to update their database (and also removing some very annoying ones) I really think we could get a few more players to play with

sorry for the off-topic but somewhat I really feel this thing had to be said, now to answer:
-badlogistics:very funny to play
-amuse_beta:had the chance to play it in a user created game,I dunno if it was because the firsdt time I actually played it against players or the general feel, but it's a very nice map
-engholm:as good as the old one
-cliffed_r3:nice map, surprising snipers can be very funny
-stad_final,riverview and amsterville (converted HL2DM) very good maps, beside the fact that amsterville is a hell of a huge map

I also wish I could play enterprise (it's available in padded cell but I still didn't get the chance to meet other players there),unbuggy skylounge and dawg

sorry if I go a bit off-topic,but maybe we could use this situation to try to contact some admins that run some AHL2 servers so they might edit their maplist, and why not some other settings (so for instance since there are not any vote system for now,we could ask them to reduce the play time,so the boring maps shall pass quicker)?

veritas:if you can have the chance to contact some server admins about putting your upcoming maps, please ask them to change their map lists aswell, guess we might use this very topic to debate what are our favorite ones and the ones we want to be "HC n' trolls pit only" (funny thing is for now I said twice something like "contacting admins" but I actually didn't do anything at all about it :x)

duncan:so the next release will contain all the default HL2DM maps instead of one single converted map is that it? :p

bankjob and dawg - the most recent additions to our mapcycle - will probably be keepers, though both do require some improvements to be 100% playable. bankjob is close to being a hit, especially.

badlogistics, metro, stad_final and dm_tower_b42 are probably the best AHL2-suited maps at the moment, with canalwar and rebar coming right after.

Conspicuously absent from the mapcycle are engholm, enterprise and toaster; They're all pretty good and we play those pretty much these days - engholm especially; it does have scale and detail issues, though, with enterprise focusing too much on narrow paths and corners and toaster a little too weird for its own good.

We play farmhouse a lot and it's damn fun but a good map it's not - not that it matters! Same applies to oldmilbase.

drainage has a good flow and is a very competently realized map, but isn't that amusing to play overall due to its complex layout and lack of distances. cliffed would be king were it not for the teamplay bugs and horrible lag. construction, farmhouse and romanpool are very small and best for about four players max.

But yeah. badlogistics, metro, stad_final and dm_tower_b42.

Just to add one - dm_bridge is awesome! Huge amounts of traffic. Some weird spawn points that make it unsuited for TP but oh well.

Any teamplay suggestions? Bankjob works best for us so far, and dawg is pretty good.

I would say ahl2_skylounge latest version, the map is not very big so I guess it can be pretty fast to ambush enemy from behind, and between breakable windows and overall map layout there are more than needed for diving and mercyless action

well,I just hope the map doesn't bug so much anymore,no servers suggest the latest one  ,so let's just say an unbuggy version of loungesky...amuse_beta sould be cool too

agree with ganove, the map can turn into a mayhem with just 3 crazy people (and I'm wondering if it would be a cool map for teamplay too)

Have to agree on size of canalwar - 3vs3 kept bogging down a lot merely due to the nooks and crannies. Sometimes the spawn points were too close to each other, too.

engholm would be teamplay-oriented otherwise, but has severe balance issues with the glass ceiling area, with the other team usually at the top of the ladder on the roof, creating an insanely difficult position for the other team. Merely getting out the door adjacent to the glass ceiling is nearly impossible if the other team has got it covered.

Metro would benefit a lot from adding just a little bit of more space in the middle of the metro tracks and potentially widening the routes a little, to create distance and offer more chances for real tactical manoeuvres - right now, it's just a matter of trying to ambush the enemies. It's just as hectic with TP as in DM - not a bad thing per se, just not the kind of tactical TP experience that AQ2 could offer.

Definitely think bankjob is the most balanced level out of the crop for 2vs2 and 3vs3 so far. Also continue to be impressed with dawg. Both maps are really good gameplay-wise despite other small shortcomings!

This is a remake, as per the original. There will be changes for the next release to balance it up a little. As for the glass roof, there is another way out of that area :-/ . Tbh i always liked the original Engholm for the glass roofed bit (thats why i remade it), was funny as hell to throw a grenade across the roof's into that room and blow the shit out of the opposing team. Rounds never lasted more than a couple of mins because it was a fast map (and thats what we need) there's no point in having huge maps with lovely detail, but the player has to wonder around for half an hour until you find someone to shoot. Anyway the next release will be ahl2_Engholm_Redux, i will see what else i can throw in to balance it up ;).

I think large maps are good too,we might just need to keep a balance between large search and destroy and fast rounds in the map choice (still,I guess more little maps with a few larger ones is better, this mod is about action after all)...totally agree with engholm, this map is designed to be fast paced, and it works freaking perfectly

veritas,I was just wondering if you planned to keep the crates under the glass windowed room,I liked the fact that it was possible to get to roof without passing through the stairs (crates were removed in latest version),and if maybe you would give the map a more old-school feeling as well? (if you need fridge, bed, beerbox and other related props I always got some space in my todolist :) )

Yeh i could do with left4dead props but i cannot get them to work with hl2 (models are there but textures are screwed) probably not best to use them anyway due to legal wranglings  But yes to your question m8 i could do with loads of props ie household stuff. As for the crates these were taken out as by request but i have thought of doing something else (wait and see  )

The only thing i would suggest is getting your modelling head on and just doing all sorts of stuff m8, im sure they will all be used at some stage ;) still waiting for the motorbikes for hbraid if your interested in that _/-\o_
